NFL Playoff Picture (2026-27)

The NFL playoff picture for the 2026-27 season is the 14-team field the bracket is built from: seven AFC seeds and seven NFC seeds. Each 1 seed has a bye. The Wild Card round pairs 2 vs 7, 3 vs 6, and 4 vs 5.

Seed names on this page are placeholders. There is no live standings feed, so this picture does not show records, clinch status, or odds. Rename a seed if you want a team name in that slot, then open NFL playoff scenarios or the playoff predictor to play the games out. Conference views: AFC playoff picture and NFC playoff picture.

FAQ

What is the NFL playoff picture?
The NFL playoff picture is the 14-team field that goes to the postseason: seven AFC seeds and seven NFC seeds. This 2026-27 page shows those seeds, the first-round bye for each 1 seed, and the three Wild Card games in each conference.
Why are the teams labeled AFC #1 instead of real team names?
This 2026-27 release does not load a live standings feed. The board uses placeholder seed labels. You can rename any seed, then open the predictor to play the bracket.
Does this page show records, clinch status, or odds?
No. Records, magic numbers, and win probabilities are not invented here. The page only shows the seeding slots and the Wild Card matchups the bracket rules lock in once those slots are filled.
Which seed gets a bye?
The 1 seed in each conference skips the Wild Card round and enters in the Divisional Round. Seeds 2 through 7 play in the Wild Card: 2 vs 7, 3 vs 6, and 4 vs 5.
Do later rounds stay in this order?
No. After the Wild Card, the remaining teams are re-seeded so the highest remaining seed plays the lowest remaining seed. Use the playoff scenarios page or the predictor to walk those paths.
